About this data

This page tracks forced position closures across the whole crypto futures market: every coin, every exchange, longs and shorts, aggregated into one set of numbers. The headline cards roll up the last hour, 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days; the bar chart below them shows the same totals per day back to 2017, with an hourly view for the past week.

Liquidation totals are a direct read on how much leverage just got flushed. A day dominated by long liquidations means a sell-off caught leveraged buyers; a spike in short liquidations means a squeeze. Because the figures come from the same aggregated feed as the rest of Coinfuty, the 24-hour number here matches the liquidation card on the home page and on every coin page.

Below the totals, the page breaks the same flow down three ways — by exchange (where positions were closed), by coin (which markets were hit hardest, in dollars and as a share of open interest), and by side over the last 30 days (which side of each market has been paying). The open interest vs price map adds context: a coin sitting in the “long build-up” corner is adding leveraged longs into strength, one in the “long unwinding” corner is shedding them.

Frequently asked questions

What does liquidation mean in crypto?

A liquidation is the forced closing of a leveraged futures position by the exchange once the trader's margin can no longer cover the running loss. The position is closed at market, and the notional value of everything closed this way is what liquidation data measures. Long liquidations happen when price falls; short liquidations happen when price rises.

What does liquidated mean in crypto?

A trader is “liquidated” when their position is force-closed and their margin for that trade is lost. It is the leveraged-trading equivalent of a stop-out: the exchange takes over the position before the account can go negative. Large liquidation spikes usually coincide with the sharpest candles, because forced selling (or buying) feeds the move that triggered it.

How much crypto was liquidated in the last 24 hours?

Across 652 futures-traded coins, $550.64M of positions were liquidated in the past 24 hours — $86.20M in longs and $464.45M in shorts, so shorts took the larger hit. The trailing 7-day total is $2.17B.

How much Bitcoin was liquidated today?

Bitcoin futures saw $267.85M in liquidations over the last 24 hours ($21.39M longs, $246.46M shorts). The BTC row on this page updates every minute; the full BTC history by exchange is on the Bitcoin liquidation page.

Which exchange has the most liquidations?

Binance accounted for 43.0% of all crypto liquidations in the last 24 hours ($241.47M), ahead of Hyperliquid at 16.0% and Bybit at 11.3%. Exchange shares are computed from completed hours, so they can differ slightly from the rolling 24-hour headline.

Why do long and short liquidations differ from the total on other sites?

Every tracker aggregates a different set of exchanges and pairs, and some only count reported liquidation orders while others estimate. Coinfuty sums long and short liquidations across all tracked futures exchanges and excludes any venue reporting zero, so totals are internally consistent across the home page, coin pages and this hub, but will not match a site with a different exchange list.
